Southern Adventure

About this project: Contiki challenged myself & two friends, @matjoez & @itchban to document (in real time across social media) a road trip experience that showcased their Southern Adventure: departing Los Angeles & flying out of New Orleans. A four season experience in a mere 13 days.

From the marketing side & I guess the greater mystery (which was later revealed to audiences on social media) was that we were in fact travelling alongside 52 other 18-35 yr olds. How we managed to hide 52 people (that were literally travelling next to us) from our daily social media updates is a testament to the notion that the FAKE NEWS exists. Many of us seem to only share the highlights & in a lot of ways that was my vision for this film.

In the edit, I wanted to play with the mixed mediums. I found a way to incorporate our daily documentation of Instagram Stories through using a three way split screen which I also think expressed the three way camaraderie. A reminder to the editors out there, never delete anything.

A road trip is such a liberating feeling. So many of us can relate to packing a bag and hitting the open road. If anything this film is just a stitch in time, but hopefully it encapsulates some of those nuances & expresses the importance of living (while we can).
